Good morning fashionistas! By wearing a few bright colors and pairing them with a fun print (hence the cheetah belt and shoes) you will be right in style this summer! I couldn't resist putting up a picture of my new color blocked nails as they matched perfectly! Don't be afraid to stray away from the normal pink and white french manicure because this summer is all about daring and bright fashion!

Happy Thursday!

I've got blue on my mind

Dress: H&M { here }, Blazer: Nasty Gal { here }, Necklace: Sam Moon, Flats: Francesca's {similar here }, Bracelet: Francesca's, Purse: Sam Moon, Shades: D&G

I am currently loving blue in literally any shade, hue and value. Personally I think blue looks good on everyone regardless of their coloring, skin tone, or shape. Blue represents calmness, relaxation, peacefulness and has the ability to make you feel young so ladies if any of you are feeling extra stressed remember to throw on your favorite blue piece to have a more stress-free day!

Happy Wednesday... No time for the blues today ;)

Highs & Lows

Blouse: Francesca's, Skirt: YA via Necessary Clothing, Clutch: Forever21, Watch: Micheal Kors, Bracelets: Dillards, Accessorize, Shoes: Old Navy, Shades: Ray Ban, Necklace: Sam Moon

The type of skirt I am wearing (short in the front & long in the back) has many different names but my favorite is the the tail hem. It can be described as whimsical, romantic, feminine, and effortless. Hem lines have definitely had their ups and downs, literally, as research shows that hemlines are related to the economy and stock market. Ex: when the economy and stock market are doing well, the length starts to rise and when they start to fall, the length goes with it. In my opinion this hemline is the most flattering as I love wearing it and I cannot believe we have never seen this before!

Opposites Attract

Shirt: TJ Max, Pants: J Crew { similar here }, Necklace: Natasha { here }, Shoes: Stuart Weitzman {similar here }Bracelets: Cara via Nordstrom and H&M {similar here }, Clutch: Macys, Shades: Ray Ban

Words cannot express my infatuation with my new Stuart Weitzman kitten heels as I couldn't wait to get my hands on them!  A kitten heel is described as a 1 1/2 -2 inch heel which are considered a classic since they have been around since the 1950's and were made popular from the one and only Audrey Hepburn. Aside from my obsession with my new shoes, color blocking will be trending through my entire blog so hopefully you guys find it as fun as I do. According to Lucky magazine, If you are having trouble pairing colors together try these out:
1. Cobalt Blue, Yellow, Orange
2. Chocolate Brown, Pink, Peach
3. Purple, Bright Blue, Teal
4. Deep Blue, Bright Pink, White
5. Coral, Grey, Ivory

Happy Monday!

Tribal Takeover

Shirt: Forever21 { here }, Skirt: Cotton On { similar here & here }, Shoes: Bamboo, Necklace: Dandelion Boutique, Belt: Forever21, Shades: D&G, Purse: Tory Burch, Bracelets: Forever21 { here & here }, Ring: Forever 21

The tribal trend has definitely made its way through the fashion cycle (quite a few times) and right now these exotic elements have hit their peak. It is apparent that this trend has been on the radar for many seasons now and doesn't seem to be going anywhere, anytime soon. Usually it is recognized as strong black and white graphics such as the shirt I am wearing but it can also consist of other color schemes such as naturals and earth tones. I personally love this trend as I think it's a great example of the trickle-up theory, which is fashion that has become popular from the streets and was adopted by mainstream and higher class groups.

A Touch of Class

Blazer: Necessary Clothing { here },  Blouse: Nordstrom Rack { similar here & here }, Shorts: Zara { here }, Shoes: Vintage Valentino,  Necklace: Impeccable Pig, Watch: Michele, Bracelet: James Avery { here },  Purse: Louis Vuitton,  Ring: Forever21, Shades: Ray Ban

I definitely love to experiment with the new and upcoming trends but in my opinion there is nothing more appealing than a classy outfit. With fast fashion being so popular these days consumers are constantly buying disposable fashion (wearing an item once before it hibernates in the back of the closet) and yes believe it or not, I am guilty of this! Over the years I've noticed I always resort back to my classic pieces hence the blue blouse while finding myself donating and reselling my fast fashion items. You can never go wrong with a classic striped blazer and crisp pair of white shorts!

Until next time...

Block Party

Shirt: Collective Concept via Nordstrom Rack { similar here }, Jacket: Forever21, Jeans: Bella Dahl via Nordstrom { similar here & on sale}, Clutch: Sam Moon { here }, Shoes: Inc via Macys, Bracelets: Sam Moon, Ring: Forever 21 Shades: D&G

If you haven't noticed yet I am 100% head over heals in love with color. With color blocking being the latest and hottest trend I am in my glory and am loving life! Color blocking can be risky and there are many ways to pair colors based on color schemes, tones, shades, and hues. Ex: If you pair green and yellow together you are a creating an analogous scheme because they are next together on the color wheel. I chose to take the safe route with purple and yellow as these two shades are complementary colors!

If you are totally afraid and completely lost with this new trend, check out this video to help bring out the fashionista within!

I'd love to hear your favorite color blocking combinations so feel free to comment below...

Cream of the Crop

Shirt: Bella Dahl similar { here & here}, Skirt: Forever21 similar { here }, Belt: Nasty Gal { here }, Shoes: Ann Marino, Purse: Nordstrom Rack, Necklace: JCPenny, Bracelet: Forever21, Watch: Michael Kors { here }, Shades: Tory Burch

Being a native Texan, I am constantly pairing country inspired clothing with other pieces (I guess it's just habit) and even though I grew up in Dallas, I have to stay loyal to my roots!  I love the contrast of rustic and feminine styles as I think they create perfect harmony.

If any of you are familiar with Brooks and Dunn then you know "you can't take the honky tonk out of the girl." ;)

Pinking-Positive

Blazer: Zara { similar here }, Blouse: H&M, Shorts: Forever21 {similar here }, Shoes: Jessica Simpson, Necklace: Arden B, Bracelets: Sam Moon, Clutch: H&M, Shades: D&G {similar  here

I had a hard time deciding which outfit would be my first post and after much thought (and wracking my brain) I ended up selecting this. With the nautical theme being so popular right now and classical which is obviously always in, I thought this was perfect. One of my favorite things to do is to mix different elements together; ex: classical style with a nautical twist. What is your favorite combination of elements? I'd love to hear!
